My Breast Cancer FAQ

Another page inspired by Ava. This page is honestly more for my sanity than for informing people. But I am grateful in advance if anyone gains value from me sharing my journey.

What form of breast cancer do you have?

Invasive ductal carcinoma, stage 3a

How did you find out?

My PCP called me one morning & said they needed me to come in ASAP. I arrived & my doctor said, "This is looking like a cancer." I broke down & called my mom.

Even my doctors were crying with me.

I received the official diagnosis confirming the mass on 1/13/25.

My mom arranged for us to have a consultation appointment so I wouldn't be alone if the biopsies confirmed cancer. I hear most people find out from a phone call & are typically not in an environment to receive this news. Wow...

What were your symptoms?

I felt a large lump; my fiancé felt it & advised me to get it checked out. The doctor also thought it was funky & ordered a mammogram.

What treatment are you receiving?

The sequence is 17 rounds of chemotherapy, then surgery (partial mastectomy w reconstruction) & radiation.

As of April 25, 2025, I have 14 rounds of chemotherapy left.

Thank you for reading.

I will write posts about how I'm feeling under the cancer, chemo or health tag.
