I track my reading on StoryGraph.
My favorite books:
Book Title | My thoughts |
---|---|
![]() The Institute by Stephen King |
This is my most favorite book, ever. I know that's a pretty significant designation, but this is my favorite comfort read. I read it at least once a year & I'm currently due for another read. |
![]() The Green Mile by Stephen King |
A beautiful, but tragic story of grace & mercy. There are many more themes to be digested by this novel. But the story grips you by the empathy strings for John Coffey, and despite his fate being awful yet evident, you want nothing less than peace for him. I love the book more than the movie bc even the little mouse plays a more prominent role. |
![]() First We Make the Beast Beautiful by Sarah Wilson |
A great book on how to change your perspective on anxiety & other comorbidities that could help lead to more personalized solutions. I love the title of this book, because anyone with anxiety knows how much of a beast it can be. |
![]() Sex in the Sanctuary by Lutishia Lovely |
I love this entire series! It's full of mess. I can't wait to re-read them all & possibly post my reviews of them now that I'm older. |
![]() A Child Called 'It' by Dave Pelzer |
A story of triumph. As a victim of child abuse, I hated reading his story but found comfort in knowing I'm not alone. I've also read The Lost Boy, but I haven't read the third book in the series. |
![]() Help Me by Marianne Power |
I love the entire concept of this book. The author is hilarious. |
![]() The Whisper Man by Alex North |
A great story of mystery that even got me to shed a tear. |
![]() The Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris |
Do you even like thriller or horror if you don't like The Silence of the Lambs? Lol. Red Dragon is great too. The third one is "okay" & I felt like the fourth one could've stayed in the drafts. |
![]() Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell |
Another book that made me cry. It's not a sad book but what happens to the victim is awful. |
![]() The Family Upstairs by Lisa Jewell |
My introduction to Lisa Jewell & a great one at that. She's written another book for this series & I have yet to get my hands on it. |
![]() The Good House by Tananarive Due |
I love me a good magical realism book. It's based in all the things I love about hoodoo & horror. |
![]() Jason & Kyra by Dana Davidson |
My favorite comfort read from high school. A cute romance story. |
![]() Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid |
Such a fun read. |
![]() The Coldest Winter Ever by Sister Souljah |
The original hood rat princess, Winter Santiago. She doesn't need any introduction from me. I promise that the first page of her words will have you wanting to know more about wtf she got going on... bc it's a lot. Lmao. |
![]() Yummy by G. Neri |
Despite this being a picture book, it was a hard read for me. Especially knowing that this is a true story. It may be time for me to find more books that delve into all he experienced. There are so many Yummy's out in the world who deserve justice. |
![]() ttyl by Lauren Myracle |
Another cute comfort read from high school. Showing my age here bc back then chat speak on books was like..."cool" or "new." |
![]() Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer |
If you ever go down a Mount Everest rabbit hole that borderlines on obsession, I recommend this book as the first one you read. |
